I have been thinking about my lifetime of lost opportunities. One that always comes to mind was the opportunity to spend much more time with our four children - all now 40+. I confess that less time should have spent on furthering my career and enjoying my hobbies.
No doubt we all regret lost opportunities of some kind.

Yes, time spent with children is very precious. Sometimes a lost opportunity does come along again and it is then that every effort should me made not to miss out again - this may be the last chance.

It always sounds like a better option to spend less time on the job and more with the family. However, if you had done exactly that Skip how would you and Mrs Skip have been able to provide as well as you have done so and are still doing, both physically, financially and dare I say spiritually to your four children providing them with the schooling and learning opportunities you did and thus setting them up for their own future with children of their own to provide for. The way you did it worked for you and Pam and the family, and to be honest, I couldn't imagine you staying put for too long around the house. You too needed space to study and enjoy your vibres from your sporting activities. You worked together as a team doing what you did, it may not have worked out so well if you had been under Pam's feet all day around the house!!
Lost opportunity - I often think of the time I chose to go back home to live with my parents for a year after finishing boarding school. In hindsight I wish I had taken the bull by the horns and gone into journalism and become an Overseas War Correspondent, or the other option open to me was to work for Foreign Affairs, I had completed all my Advanced Government Shorthand/Typing exams, both jobs would have meant working and living away from my home town. However I chose to remain in my home town and I ended up going nursing and then things took off in a particular direction - and the rest is history! I might add, I have no regrets, and am enjoying my new role as a grandmother. Skip you too have a wonderful opportunity to spend X amount of time with your wonderful grandchildren and great-grandchildren and your time spent with them is the best gift you can give any young child....

I think we all think of lost opportunities. I regret not staying in manchester I had a good chance of having a really good career instead I moved here to be with my parents. The trouble is there are no opportunities its a bleak place to live and there is so much real poverty and violent behaviour.
I stay here because my children live here so I want to be near them.

Yes living near to family members is very important, especially as the years creep by. We are every fortunate, as three of our immediate families live within half and hour of us and all have their own homes, This provides even more confidence that they will be staying where they are - and so will we! lol

I think it is important to stay near your family if you can. Too many people are isolated these days. x

No point in dwelling on lost opportunities! By doing so we may miss one that's staring us in the face right now

Maybe that is another of my many weaknesses - reminiscing . That reminds me about 'Our Memories' which seems to be heading for the same fateful end as 'Weathercheck'. I probably won't bother to waste my time again.

Reminiscing about lovely memories is good.... I just think it's best not to dwell on the "what if's" and the negative things. That's just my own personal experiences lead me to think that - obviously it could well be very different for others

Maybe it's the result of our individual make-up. - Some care and kind of punish themselves and others don't bother at all.

I think my kids are sick of the site of me but then I was lucky to learn from the little time my dad spent with me.

Yes, just goes to prove that we can learn from our own misfortunes if we care to take the time.

I often worry about the amount of time that i get to spend with the chldren due to work commitments..but always try to make the time that we do have special..As for lost opportunity'..We all have lot's of them,but can we change them? xx
