The New Zealander Anthony Wilding won eight Wimbledon crowns in the early years of the 20th century.
Not till nearly a century later, Pete Sampras became the first person to break Wilding's record number of multiple Wimbledon wins in doubles, singles and mixed doubles. Wilding won four consecutive Mens Singles from 1910 to 1913.
Sadly Anthony Wilding was killed soon after, fighting for Britain in World War 1.
