Our elder son David(45) phoned Pam(72) last evening and promptly said, 'I'm glad that I'm not you Mum.'

During the afternoon David had decided to drain rainwater from his boat by siphoning it out with a hose. He placed one end of the hose in the water and sucked on the other end as hard as he possibly could. Unknown to David a German wasp had decided to seek refuge in that same hose. Consequently, he sucked the wasp into his mouth and down his throat. He managed to cough the wasp up but the damage had been done! A very painful throat sting.

Fast thinking David immediately gargled lots of vinegar and followed up by taking double the recommended dose of antihistamine.

'.......and how are you now David?'

'I'm as good as gold Mum.'

Lucky David - when his Mum is stung by a wasp or even a bee, urgent medical attention is a must!
