Another menacing virus. Please keep a watch-out and avoid this one whatever you do.

Internet security experts are warning computer users about the Terminator2009 Adware. The Terminator2009 program is a fake antivirus (also known as ‘scareware’), which simulates a scan when users click on a fake scanner button. The virus enters computers via a Trojan, often from shareware and freeware downloads and peer-to-peer programs, and then claims to have detected malware on the user’s computer.

If users follow the program's recommendations, they are redirected to a page where they are offered, at a price, a ‘Premium version’ of the fake antivirus software. If they choose not to purchase, the adware starts displaying warnings that the computer is infected and suggesting they purchase the pay version to eliminate the non-existent threats. The overall objective for the creators of this malicious code is to profit from the sale of pay versions of the fake antivirus.

Experts are warning however, that the removal of the Terminator2009 menace is a delicate procedure. It is recommended that computer users perform backups and set up system restore points before attempting to remove the virus manually. Novice users who have downloaded the malware should seek expert advice.
