Why do we lie?

We lie to avoid punishment, to get a reward, to protect others, to escape an awkward social situation, to enhance our egos, to control information and to fulfill our job descriptions.

' To protect others ' by sticking my neck out makes me wonder most of all. I wonder how often that situation has arisen.

Possibly you too have at some time put yourself on the line and lied for the sake of somebody else.

A 'white lie' of course - lol

I'm not good at lying. Can't do it convincingly.
But I've been lied too - if that helps at all?

Hint: Don't begin to tell your lie till you turn your back and slowly move away. lol

Your very kind and innocent appearance is the only problem.

imagine a world without lies....
what if you buy a new outfit and ask a friend what they think of it, if they dont like it, they would probably lie and say they do. If we had a world without lies, i think it would be a very cold world with not many friendships!
so, in certain situations i think its good that people lie and we lie ourselves.

Even our number one in politics has been living on lies this year. Yesterday all was exposed when she dismissed her foreign minister, an even bigger liar. The whole set-up thrives on lies.
