Here's something that I recently came across which may appear to be a little strange to you.
" I can't stand having bare feet, so I almost always wear shoes or socks. Similarly, seeing other people wandering around with bare feet in places like shopping centres freaks me out."
Before I swallow this tale hook line and sinker, are there any thoughts for or against this opinion.

I haven't seen anyone in bare feet round our local Mall. Is it very common where you are?

Not as much as it used to be - of course we are just coming out of winter, chillblains and all that. LOL

I detest anyone looking at my feet, touching is a no-no, I don't even like touching them myself. Did try once to go to the chiropodist but every time he tried to touch them I pulled them away. I shudder every time that I have to cut my nails.
Actually it's the same with dentists, I just can't open my mouth.

I love walking in sand with bare feet - and most of all in wet grass.... I remember one year in a hot summer walking out in fields with bare feet, the grass was parched, but still wet with dew. And there was a full moon above so it was quite magical.
I believe in looking after my feet in the desperate hope that they might be persuaded to look after me....

Good for you - generally speaking the feet are the most neglected body part.

As a child I walked barefoot and stood on a lit cigarette by accident, it certainly put me off walking barefoot.
I know some people with a real aversion to walking barefoot on mud. its the feeling of squelching between the toes.

Only in New Zealand! That used to freak me out a lot as well! I have never come across the barefoot fetish anywhere else in the world, not even in South Africa. I think it is a very Polynesian thing.

I quite like having bare feet, but having once trod in something the cat did (eww) with bare feet I can understand your reluctance. As for wandering about the shops unshod, what is the matter with these people?
