A would-be tree hugger !
This is an 800 year old Kauri tree native to New Zealand. Some are more than 1200 years old!
The tallest are about 170 feet high and the tremendous girth size can be judged from the above photo taken just north of here.
Maybe you have big trees too.

I guess that your growing season is very short compared with ours and the type of trees that you grow would be rather limited. Here there is really no dormant time during the year for our big trees - they just keep on growing - LOL
