That is awful, I was fascinated by these as a child due to the planet forest moon of Endor in Return of a Jedi being shot in a Californian Location.
I just yesterday watched a documentary where the largest specimen called Hyperion has been discoverd and it is taller than the Statue of Liberty.-

Redwoods are never a hazard, not even this one. Not to worry. I planted 10 more in my garden. Nice ratio, huh? Some day a redwood grove.

A place for everything and everything in it's place. I wish people would stick to planting trees in forests and not in their gardens - they grow to ridiculous heights and can be very anti-social.
