Idiots.

Typical of a Saturday Night.

A man turned on ambulance staff trying to help him after he was stabbed in another week-end of alcohol and violence in our fair city. The police and an ambulance had been called at about 12.30am.

There were bottles and "other weapons" everywhere and the man who had been stabbed was abusive and violent. When the first ambulance arrived he turned his anger on them and discharged himself from their care. His condition worsened and a second ambulance was called but he remained un-cooperative and was eventually arrested.

The man was taken to hospital where he was very un-cooperative with the staff. Eventually however, they were able to treat him and it was revealed following scans that he was very seriously injured, with a split liver from the stabbing. A man arrested over the stabbing is to appear in the District Court.

At about the same time police attended another out of control party where more than 100 people were reported to be fighting. To add to the problems a video store was robbed and several more fights broke out in the city streets.

The police resources were more than stretched over the week-end, responding to various out of control parties with a common theme of excess alcohol and gang fighting.

Peace be with you all.

These are the sorts of incidents that are making the news here, too.
Alcohol and drug fuelled crime is extant. It is sad. Apart from the aspect of drink, you wonder if the guy in the reports, disinhibited as he was, may have sustained brain injuries which exacerbated his responses.

Parties, weddings, other celebrations, you name it, they have all becoming excuses for excesses.

Actually based on his shocking attitude to one and all there was doubt whether he had any brains at all.

All excuses regardless, provide no reason for such anti-social behaviour.

Real sickness can do, this often goes unrecognised and untreated. Unfortunately, because of the gross exhibitionism of the behaviours you have described, the genuine problems, (fewer in number, though they do exist)get lumped in with the same labelling.

I agree with you, that in the main, much of what is seen is inexcusable.

In short - Another Saturday night boozing party - self inflicted - accept the blame and consequences of what follows.

Unfortunately the Saturday night 'life' is spreading like wildfire.

They drink as though it's going out of fashion and act like wild animals.

Now part of Nanny's Nation and badly in need of a big clean up.

I know the feeling!!! And had the first bloke died it would have been a death in custody and a full inquest would have been held taking months, with the family blaming the police for his death!!

Yes.

In today's local news.

'Four police officers acquitted of assault in Court before a jury still face internal inquiry.

Four policemen will have to wait to find out if they still have jobs after last night being cleared of assaulting a prisoner.'

The 'prisoner' had gone berserk and was more than threatening to kill. The officers had to withstand before the jury, an hour and a quarter video of the alleged assault.

Another example of why I'm so against alcohol. Problems like the one you described exist all over the world where they sell alcohol. You might remember that I support the idea of making alcohol illegal because it's just as bad as currently illegal drugs. But I guess our states earn too much money with alcohol taxes to seriously consider such a step...

Best we can do is teach our children and grand-children the negative effects of alcohol and how to stay away from it.
