Congratulations to our Teenagers.

by skip2468 @ 03/06/08 - 11:59:16 am

Blogging teens.

Every day, blogs are created by people of all ages and
from all walks of life, but when it comes to blogging,
teenage writers are truly on the cutting edge of the
movement.

Because today's teenagers are the first
generation of people to have grown up using the
internet at every stage of their development, many
adolescents have a seemingly innate sense of how to use
web technology to express their innermost thoughts and
ideas.

Older writers often experience a kind of learning
curve when they begin to blog, but many young people
find that using a word processor and blogging software
feels more natural and a more direct mode of communication
than writing in a diary ever could.

Do we agree or agree to disagree?

I don't think I agree with you. Writing a diary and writing a blog are both just writing. The only difference is that others will likely be reading the blog. All of us will have things we want to reveal in a blog and things we don't and that applies just as much to teenagers as to older people.

Cheers, Tom.

The salient point made is that teenagers generally use modern technology for communicating much more confidently than we do.

Having been born into the technological age, teenagers generally take to the modern ever changing technology like ducks to water.

It is appropriate that we be positive and praise our teenagers when they enjoy success.

I don't think I agree with that either. My mum is 70 now and she uses mobile phones, internet and so on with perfect elan and confidence, as do many people of her generation.

I think what is true though is that some modern youngsters have difficulty with older technology.

I'm very pleased that you disagree as much as you do. You provide an interest to my postings that they otherwise clearly lack.

It's only by disagreeing with people that we can learn. If we only ever spoke to people who agreed with us, we'd never move forwards.

That's what I think anyway.

Tom.

I would probably agree skip if I could understand what some of them write.
