Odds and ends

They do rid us of lots of disease carrying flies and lots of biting insects. For a moment imagine a world with no spiders - ok ?
you are absolutely right....they do provide an invaluable service.......I just dont like 'em. Dont like the way
they crounch about and run or lurk....

I wonder how spiders feel about us as we ruthlessly slaughter them by the millions.
Awful I expect...I always feel very sorryfor them. I usually catch them and put them outside. Jar and cardboard job. I often think I bet I'll come back as a spider in another life.
Love them - can't understand how anyone an be afraid of anything so small, beyond natural caution with the venemous varieties.

Hi Skip!
Love your new blog picture - autumn is my absolute favourite season!
And spiders: I find them very fascinating, how they look, how they live, their skills of making beautiful webs - I just don't like them on me.
But whenever one turns up in my apartment, I catch it and put it out on the balcony (don't mind touching the very tiny ones).
One exception, though: there is one kind in Germany (Europe? The world?) called the Common House Spider - looks like a daddy longlegs but builds webs. This spider annoys me awfully. They always build their webs in those corners where you don't see them, they only come out at dusk (so you don't see them), they're almost translucent (so you don't see them), and you can't catch them because they shed a leg or two to escape you. And they appear in masses. So I kill them.
But I swear those are the only ones!!
